In a small ziploc baggy, add 1 teaspoon sea salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, ½ teaspoon paprika, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder. Seal the bag, fold it up and place it on top of the soup mix before you seal it.

To cook the soup, pour the contents of the jar (except for the bag of spices) into a large pot. Add 4 cups of vegetable broth and 4 cups of filtered water. Bring to a boil then add the spice mix. Lower the heat and simmer for about 30-40 minutes or until preferred doneness of lentils and split peas. Optional add in: ¼ cup tomato sauce or paste. You can also add veggies too!
