I have a smoothie nearly 7 days a week, 365 days a year. And this chocolate peanut butter smoothie recipe has remained a favourite for years. It genuinely tastes like a chocolate peanut butter milkshake, and is refined sugar free and packed with fiber and omega-3 fatty acids! This is a perfect smoothie to add into your diet to optimize gut health, and it’s a great alternative for your typical green smoothies. The base of the smoothie is creamy frozen bananas mixed with chocolate, peanut butter and fibre-boosting hemp hearts, chia and flax seeds. Raw cocoa powder provides a dose of polyphenols, a powerful antioxidant that is known to support gut health and combat inflammation. Hemp hearts, chia seeds and flax seeds are all gut health superstars, providing a source of plant-based protein, fibre and anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids. And since this smoothie looks – and tastes! – like a milkshake, it makes a great option for kids, even those who are picky eaters!

Substitutions: Substitute peanut butter for the nut butter of your choice - almond and cashew butters work great in this recipe! Nut free? Substitute sunflower seed butter or tahini in place of peanut butter. Omit either hemp hearts or chia seeds if you prefer!
