A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection of any part of your urinary system (i.e. bladder, kidney, urethra). While men can get UTIs, they are much more common in women. This is due to the urethra being shorter in women than men. This makes it easier for bacteria to get into the bladder. Common symptoms include abdominal pressure and pain, problems urinating, and a near-constant feeling of having to urinate. Left untreated, these symptoms can quickly intensify, so it is essential to see your doctor as soon as possible.
