Heart Disease
Heart disease is an umbrella term referring to various diseases of the heart and its associated blood vessels, such as atrial fibrillation (AF) and coronary artery disease (CAD). Generally, the underlying pathology in heart disease is atherosclerosis, a hardening and/or thickening of the arteries that supply the heart with oxygen and critical nutrients. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in North America. Luckily a change in diet can make all the difference in managing or even reversing heart disease.
