Candidiasis
Candida is a type of yeast naturally present in our digestive tracts. Usually candida lives in and on our bodies without causing any problems. Overgrowth of candida, often Candida Albicans, can cause candidiasis. Candidiasis is a fungal infection that is most commonly brought on by overuse of antibiotics, a weakened immune system, excessive consumption of refined carbohydrates (including alcohol), and high stress levels. Candidiasis manifests in several seemingly unconnected symptoms such as oral thrush, athlete's foot, urinary tract problems, digestive issues, joint pain and extreme cravings for carbohydrates, particularly sugars. It is important to get tested by your healthcare provider if you expect candidiasis, as candida can enter the bloodstream and become systemic.
