The term arthritis literally means “joint inflammation”. It is used as a blanket term to collectively refer to dozens of conditions. The most common forms are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Joint inflammation is often accompanied by pain and stiffness, which typically worsens with age. Deformed joints and a diminished range of motion are also common. Some forms of arthritis can be reversible and curable in rare cases. For all forms of arthritis, diet and lifestyle adjustments are a necessity. Mediterranean diets and anti-inflammatory diets are excellent for supporting healthy joints.
